The first day of the NFL season

That's tomorrow. And what better way to spend it than by not actually watching any football at all, but instead by being entrenched in the drama that is the Undergraduate Senate?

Lots of bills are going to be introduced tomorrow. Among them are quite a few dealing with internal SG matters (class councils, etc), but there are also a few that are not. For example, there is a bill to extend package hours for Anderson and Centennial Hall, and a bill to allow students to receive a community service credit as their 18th credit for free.

Also being introduced tomorrow will be the first bill ever authored by yours truly. It is entitled "A Bill to Ensure the Continued Sustainability of American University." It calls on the administration to implement such eco-friendly policies as a ban on Styrofoam, a five cent bag fee, and the installation of an in-line water filtration system. Some of these measures may be controversial, but I believe that they are necessary if AU wishes to continue claiming itself to be a superior campus in terms of its carbon footprint. The SG's Director of Environmental Policy Drew Veysey had significant input on the bill.
