The student body also needs to take responsibility. Our campus needs to engage much more on SG issues. The SG controls a $590,400 budget this academic year. The Senate and President MacCracken are making decisions that affect every student. People should care about what they do.For better or worse, its true. The SG controls a huge sum of money, and it comes out of your pocket. They have the power to bring you the best on campus entertainment, from concerts to big time speakers, as well as to influence the administration on issues that matter to you. So stop being apathetic. We promise that we will listen to you more, and be more engaged. But its a two way street. Want a university policy changed? Find out who your Senator is and contact them, or contact President MacCracken or one of the executives directly, or come to the Undergraduate Senate on Sunday at 2:00 in Kogod 118 and speak out during Public Comment. (Also, there is an SG General Interest Meeting Monday night at 8 in MGC 200, with free Chipotle!)
We all want many of the same things for our university, and together, there is nothing that we can't accomplish. If students are active, engaged, and a real part of the process, the administration will have no choice but to listen to us.
