I herby nominate Nicholas Russotto (CAS/KSB 2012) for AUTO Commissioner of the Student Government.
Over the last two weeks, other executives and I have interviewed seven candidates for the AUTO Commissioner position. Mr. Russotto was the one that stood out among them. He has had experience with programs with limited budgets. He cited one incident in his interview where he had to cut a budget at the church he worked at. Moreover, he has experience communicating with administration of various organizations which can be brought into AUTO when problems of liability and legality need to be communicated to and from American University.
He perceives the program as a service that can be developed to become stronger and more reliable for student organizations on campus. Mr. Russotto carries a very positive attitude towards improving the organization through extensive feedback to encourage understanding of what students want. This path to improvement is something AUTO needs to accommodate the students that use the program.
In terms of having to work with others in AUTO and customers, Mr. Russotto believes that fairness should be the key in both situations. From his past experiences at his church, where he worked with a music director to cut a budget, we saw that he had no problem communicating ideas and was able to do so without antagonizing others.
Although his experiences with AUTO are limited, I believe that he has the necessary attitude and dedication to educate himself in the program and run it efficiently with little lag time. His experiences and attitude is something that cannot be taught and will definitely give the program the push it needs to get back on track.
In summary, Mr. Russotto is a very strong nominee. His administrative experience will be invaluable to AUTO as the program recovers and grows to accommodate its customers.
