MacCracken Will Not Run Again

The Andy MacCracken era will soon be over. Last night, he told me via email, "After careful consideration, I will not be seeking reelection. I've decided to put my support behind another candidate."

Sources inside the SG tell me that MacCracken plans to support Nate Bronstein. Right now, the race for President looks like this: Seth Rosenstein and Anthony Dunham (both having officially announced that they will run), plus Nirvana Habash and Nate Bronstein (both likely to run). Not far off from what I predicted. Know of other candidates? Let me know.

MacCracken could have become the first President to serve two terms in the (short) history of the SG.

I plan to now spend some time tracking down potential candidates for Vice President, and I should have a list put together by the end of the week.

  1. Can't say I'm too surprised. No chance of winning another term.

  2. Andy is a brilliant campaigner and convincing leader. If he ran again he would win, he's built up a lot of connections on campus.

  3. Mike Mayer, why don't you show up to Senate meetings.

  4. Andy definitely had his leadership skills tested this year. An impeachment hearing, Snowpocalypse, several large initiatives, as well as ending the Kerwin domination of the President's shootout...

He has carried himself well, and has had a long, storied history in the SG, having pushed several issues in seeing him as a Senator, as Speaker of the Undergraduate Senate, and now as President.

Best of luck to him in his futures endeavors...also, best wishes on getting back some of that lost sleep.

  9. I thought Brown did a great job with FEMA. I've used him as a model for leadership.
