After the vote, Prescott left the room. He returned moments later, looking visibly angry, to gather his things. He was understandably very upset by the decision.
It will be interesting to see how the SG moves forward from this. Colin Meiselman will be acting as the VP, and an acting Secretary will now likely have to be appointed (although that is yet to be determined).
The debate on the election certification has been moved to the end of the meeting, so there will be a bunch of other nonsensical SG debate on various bills first. If any of them are of interest, I will let you know. But stay tuned as we're just getting started here. This election debate will be fun.
How does executive pay work? Does Prescott get paid while suspended?

ReplyDeleteJosh: The SG can suspend the VP from his duties, but they cannot suspend his pay. He is basically looking at a month of paid vacation right now.

I did not read anything int he Bylaws regarding the suspension of any executive officer. I don't think the Senate can do that.
ReplyDeleteAnon- I think suspension is part of Senator Dalton's bill that passed last week(?) regarding updated procedures for removal from office.
ReplyDeleteMike-- I guess the Senate feels that a month of paid vacation would do more for the students than if Prescott was in office, doing nothing anyway.
