What counts as a vote for Nirvana?

As you may be aware, Nirvana Habash is running as a write-in candidate. Steve Dalton pointed out an interesting question to me today: Does it count if they spell her name wrong?

Would a vote for "Nervana Habash" be counted? What about "Nirvana Habish?" What if they only put her first name? What if they only put her last name?

There are a lot of variables here that could make this even more interesting.

Remember: Polls close at 5 pm, so if you have not done so already, vote now.

  1. My understanding of the regulations in this area is that it's actually pretty permissive. "Nervana Habesh" and like mispellings should count as a vote for Nirvana Habash - as long as the intent is clear.

I still haven't gotten a clear answer on whether "Foo Fighters Habash" would count, though.

  2. All I know is that you have to fill out both fields: first and last name. Just my opinion, but Kanye Habash ought count for her after all of this.

This isn't based on anything, but don't you get the feeling we've got one more screwball coming our way before 9PM tonight? It's been too quiet recently...
