Breaking News: Students will not vote on Constitutional Amendment

An email sent an hour ago from Speaker Anthony Dunham:
I have spoken to Andrew Tooczydlowski, Program Advisor in Student Activities. He has informed me that he will not be able to place the Constitutional Amendment Question on the ballot during this election.
Partly, the fault is mine, due to my misinterpretation of the Governing Documents in thinking that the bill required the President's signature, thus lengthening the amount of time between the bill's passage and Andrew's reception of the question, for which I sincerely apologize.
However, Andrew has expressed his concern that this amendment was not discussed with Student Activities, and is reluctant to place this on a ballot without a) a discussion of what such an amendment would mean, and b) the amendment being marketed to students so that all students understand what is being changed.
As referenda can happen, essentially, at any time, this can be done within the next few weeks...

This is obviously an unexpected turn of events. There are a couple of things I find interesting. First, you have the Speaker (who used to be the Parliamentarian) making an error that may be the reason this ends up not being voted on. Secondly, if it does still end up going to a vote in a separate election, the turnout for that election will be much, much lower. I'll keep you posted as developments arise. Don't forget, voting for the next Undergraduate Senate begins in approx 16 hours.
