Recap

Today was, by far, the shortest Senate meeting (2 hours) that I have ever been a part of. Not a whole lot of interesting stuff to report. It is unfortunate that I recently criticized The Eagle for not covering the Senate when we debate issues of substance, and then today, we failed to debate any issues of substance. We passed a bill to make the class councils more accountable, and another to force the Speaker to put info from the meetings (like for example, the legislation) on the AUSG website, which had always been done in the past. But that was about it. Attempts were made to waive first reading on the Zipcar bill, but that failed. So that bill, along with the cost of parking bill, will be debated next week. The nomination of Alan Chang to be Comptroller will also be debated next week. Next week is also the last meeting of the 4th Undergraduate Senate, thus making it my final meeting as a Senator since I am not running for any seats in the elections that will be held starting on Tuesday. But the point is, next week will be a fascinating meeting, so be sure to stay tuned.

Also, as I said, elections will be held beginning on Tuesday. A new Senate will be elected, and the amendment to make the Comptroller/Secretary appointed is also on the ballot. So be sure to come back to this blog for election coverage that will be better than The Eagle's (or at least better than ATV's).
