Opening Statements

Senator Alves, Senator for the Campus-at-large (Complainant): He begins by making it clear that these charges are solely about the Matt Handverger, and not any other on campus organizations. He summarizes the charges, which are that Handverger violated the terms of his summer employment with regard to hours worked. Most importanlty, however, this is about the job he has done (or not done), more than about hours worked.

Matt Handverger, Comptroller (Respondent): He claims that the charges have been brought about only because of a technical detail, and do not take into account his "excellent track record." He reminds us of the importance of this trial, in that anybody in the future will be able to Google him, and he doesn't want information about an impeachment coming up.
