By one vote (18-6-1), the 2/3 majority needed to override the veto failed. This is unfortunate in my opinion. The President, and several others, said that the way that this bill was brought about was too much of an adversarial approach by the legislative branch. To them, I ask: So what? Oversight isn't supposed to be friendly. How is the Senate supposed to judge the nominees brought before them without any more information than what they can present to us in a few short minutes?
In any event, hopefully we can move on to matters of greater importance.
