Setting the stage

The final meeting comes to order in just over an hour. Some of the intrigue has now disappeared, as Senator Rosenstein has tabled both of his bills (Zipcar and cost of parking) until the Fifth Undergraduate Senate. He said that he and President MacCracken thought it would be best if he had more time to talk to the administration, and other entities involved. While I applaud his diligence, I am disappointed that I will not get to be a part of the debate on these issues.

That leaves the only issue of interest today the confirmation of Alan Chang as Comptroller. Mr. Chang's nomination will be heard by the Committee on Rules and Privileges in a few minutes. Assuming he is approved in committee and then by the full Senate, it will mark an end to one of the longest sagas in SG history. In his memo nominating Mr. Change, President MacCracken cited his "open minded approach," yet acknowledged that "his familiarity with AUTO and Bike Lending is rather limited."

At the end of today's meeting, the Fifth Undergraduate Senate will be sworn in, and they will elect a new Speaker. Will Speaker Dunham run to remain in the job? Who else will challenge him? Surely, you have to be intrigued by the drama.
