It happened this afternoon as the student was crossing Ward Circle. I saw the aftermath as I was passing by on my way to campus. Apparently only minor injuries were suffered. And then I saw Hanson on the quad. What a random place.
Anyway, Ward Circle is kind of dangerous. Now that AU has turned the Berks into an eighth dorm, they ought to ensure that it is safe to walk to campus.
But, most importantly, somebody needs to remind people that drive in this city that you have to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks. It is not a courtesy, IT IS A LAW. I cannot tell you how many times I myself have nearly been hit by cars. If somebody is walking in a crosswalk, you stop for them. You just do. If there is no light, then they have the right of way. So don't run them over!
